TRUFFLE TOUR EXPERIENCE

Truffles can be found in free areas like woods, wild grounds and along the river banks, but also in controlled areas named “tartufaie”, in other words, grounds with particular species of mycorrhizal plants. Truffle hunters are specialized searchers with the permission of the authorities in charge that, with the help of trained dogs, who are able to trac down and harvest truffles from the ground. In order to make the truffle to sprout again in the same point it is very important that hunters respect the regional and national laws and regulations. The tool used to extract truffles is called “vanghino”: it is a very little and special hoe, with a small metal blade on the top.
The aim of our Truffle Tours is to make people know the uniqueness and the authenticity of the ecosystem in which the “King of the table” grows and proliferates. A trip within the uncontaminated nature and through the knowledge of the wonderful relationship between man and animal, in other words an experience which will leave an unforgettable mark on everyone.

The guests will be accompanied by an expert truffle hunter and his faithful dog, searching the precious tuber. It will be possible to admire the symbiotic relationship between man and animal, that is extremely true especially in the truffle hunters’ world. We can plan a unique, pleasant and interesting experience in order to discover a totally unknown world or, to be more exact, a world only known thanks to the restaurants’ steamy dishes! We will lead you on a walking tour in search of truffles, through the fascinating and relaxing areas among the hills between Siena and Florence.
This kind of search lasts about one hour and is also suitable for large groups of people upon agreement.
